Είναι ένα από τα πρώτα ιστορικά έργα που γράφτηκαν για την ενδυματολογία και αποτελεί πλέον σημείο βιβλιογραφικής αναφοράς για την ιστορία των ενδυμάτων και την επιστήμη της λαογραφίας. Το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο, αν και γράφτηκε στα μέσα του 18ου αι., χρονικά εστιάζεται περισσότερο στο 17ο. Αναφέρεται στις ενδυματολογικές επιλογές, κατά κύριο λόγο, των Άγγλων. Εκδόθηκε για δεύτερη φορά το 1772.
