Broken on right end and along inner edge. At the left end there remains a trace of a cutting for a half-housing joint. Cyma reversa type crowned with an ovolo molding. On the front a band of palmettes and lotus buds (?), the design preserved only because the paint prevented its weathering as deeply as the adjoining surface. At the right end the trace of a cutting for a vertical dowel intended to secure the sima to the geison. From raking side of S.W. corner sima of the Temple of Hephaistos. Fine grained marble. ADDENDA Initially assigned to the Temple of Ares, see Hesperia 9 (1940).
