Lower edges of volutes broken away, otherwise in good condition and fresh. Note in place of eggs a cyma reversa and above this a taenia with fainted maeander. The crowning molding is an ovolo. The eyes of the volutes are large and hemispherical. The angles of the volutes are filled with partial palmettes of which the petals are painted. Abundant stains left by painted ornament, leaf pattern on cyma reversa, maeander on fillet, egg and dart on ovolo, petals on palmettes. Note also three concentric circles on eyes of volutes. Surface finished with toothed chisel, no dowel hole on bottom. Fine work. Gray-blue marble. For the type, cf. Athena Temple at Sounion, ArchEph (1917), pp. 183-187.
