trial_description_8:
Three non-joining fragments of several similar used in backing cuttings.
a) Beveled edge and smooth surface set off by incised line and painted yellow. Below line surface seems gray (probably originally white) and is enlivened by close set series of small dots evidently made with a toothed instrument, perhaps a little over 0.02m. long and with 14 teeth. Only a trace of the thin plaster above the beveled edge is preserved and color is uncertain.
b) Fragment with only a little preserved above the incised line; perhaps black above and white below.
c) Fragment with beveled edge preserved; seems black both above and below line.
d) Five joining fragments. Punctures apparently made with a comb-like instrument with 17 (?) teeth and 0.028m. long. Straight lines are incised.
e) Four joining fragments. Resembles d) but does not join. Coarse plaster adhering to bottom of largest piece and piece of stucco with finished surface parallel to that of main fragment.
f) Fragment with beveled edge and rows of regularly punctured dots.
g) Two joining fragments with one beveled edge and line of dots of various angles.
h) Fragment similar to fragment g) but no join. Same bevel.
i) Fragment preserving both beveled edges. Rough plaster adheres to left edge. Regular rows of dots.
j) Two joining fragments preserving part of beveled edge and flat margins between two dotted areas.
k) Fragment with beveled edge.
l) Fragment with some margin preserved, but broken all around.
m) Fragment with beveled edge.
