trial_description_8:
A selection of twelve fragments representative of the lot plastered together in a single frame. Tesserae backed by rather crumbly gray mortar. The nature of the backing and the very fresh, unrubbed surface of the tesserae make it likely that the mosaic is from a wall rather than a floor. No representation can be identified with certainty. Tesserae made of white marble, black, yellow and brown limestone, blue, yellow and green glass.
From Late Roman Gymnasium.
Cf. A 2292, fragments of same mosaic found in same room in 1953.
About three more dozen stored in container.
