Broken at one end. Interior face: lower part of block consists of smooth band 0.256m. high, crowned by a fascia, 0.057m. high, projecting 0.0025m. Traces of fine original stucco preserved on both band and fascia. Above this, a ledge 0.087m. wide; at this level are two sockets, spaced 0.315m. apart, to receive wooden beams of horizontal ceiling. Socket at preserved end of block: W. (from end) 0.149m.; H. 0.182m. (to top of block); D. (from interior face) 0.181m.; socket at broken end: H. 0.181m.; P.W. 0.06m.; D. 0.189m. Projecting section between sockets slopes outward from bottom to top 0.053m. in height of 0.18m. Patches of hard cement adhere to face of this. Upper parts of block left rough-chiseled. Exterior face: worked rough with drove chisel. A rough cutting 0.04m. deep and 0.09m. high along bottom; with deeper socket (cut later) at bottom (H. 0.09m.; W. 0.14m.; D. 0.09m.) set in 0.08m. from broken end of block. Top surface: cutting for double T-clamp at end, L. 0.115m.; W. 0.055m.; D. 0.03m. Dowel hole (L. 0.063m.; W. 0.014m.; D. 0.37m.) set beside clamp. Along exterior edge, a weathered line 0.05m. in from face of block. End: band of anathyrosis ca. 0.105m. wide around outside, worked smooth with point and cut before beam sockets. Central section worked rough with drove chisel.
Resting surface worked smooth with point, no cuttings.
