a) ΒΓ 1764. Representation of a leather flap from a cuirass.
Bent and chipped, broken at top and bottom edges. Corroded.
Two holes for attachment near top. Grooves on both long edges on back(?) side, for attachment of gold (?). Grooves begin 0.005 from sides. Fringe at bottom. Two center strips of four(?) original strands.
Herringbone pattern on both existing strands.

b) Representation of strap from a cuirass.
Bent and chipped. Broken at top and bottom edges. Corroded.
Two holes for attachment near top. Groove on both edges on back(?) side. Grooves begin 0.005 from side. Fringe at bottom. Three strands survive in part, fourth one broken away.
Herringbone pattern engraved on strands and on band horizontally across strap where fringe begins.
c) Mended from three pieces.
Grooved at edges.
d) Mended from three pieces. Bent.
Some gilding still visible in side grooves. Holes for attachment evident at top but edges partly broken away.
e) Mended from four pieces.
Badly broken and bent.
f) Badly fragmented and corroded.
g) Badly broken and corroded.
Similar in appearance to larger fragments of leather cuirass flaps.

handling:
07/22/86: All pieces stored in polethylene bags with silica gel. Each piece enclosed in separate polyethylene bag measuring .07x.07x.3m with 50 grams silica gel (only exception is f. and g. which are stored together in same bag). Bags are closed by folding over the end many times and fastening with paper clips. These bags are stored in plastic tupperware. Silica gel checked every 2 months: Sept. 22, Nov. 22, Jan. 22 etc.
